One thing to keep in mind is what is good for one person might not necessarily be the best island for you! Determining factors will include your budget, tastes and what type of tours and excursions interests you!

Maui "the Valley Isle" is Travel to Maui's favorite island (that is why we live here). Maui has captured “Best Island in the World” in Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards 16 times! There is lots to do while visiting Maui. A few examples would be: a snorkeling tour to Molokini, surfing lessons, farm tours, day trips to Haleakala National Park which is our dormant volcano, or the famous "Road to Hana" with the waterfalls right alongside on the road. Don’t forget our beautiful beaches in Kaanapali or Wailea which always make the top 10 beaches in the United States. .

Oahu "the Gathering Place." Oahu is home to the Pearl Harbor/Arizona Memorial. If you want lots of options in the way of shopping and night life Waikiki or Honolulu has lots of choices! In the winter, the big surf comes up and it is fun to watch the waves at Pipeline on the north shore. Other points of interest would be the Bishop Museum, Sea Life Park, and the Dolphin Quest, Iolani Palace, and the Polynesian Cultural Center. Due to the vast amount of high rises hotels in Waikiki if you are looking for cheap deals to Hawaii, Oahu is for you.

"The Big Island" of Hawaii is unique because of the active volcano. Seeing the molten lava flow is something you will never forget! It can best be viewed by helicopter. Other options would be to take a 7-10 day cruise of the islands, or a strenuous hike to the most recent flows. The size of the Big Island is larger than all of the other Hawaiian Islands and still growing every day! This island is not suggested for anyone with breathing problems due to the sulfuric smoke.

Kauai is known as the "the Garden Isle" for her endless shades of green, serene tropical rivers, and relaxed pace. Roughly 10 percent of Kauai is accessible by car, while the rest of the island can only be explored by hiking, air tours, and kayaking. Many travelers seeking unconventional experiences come to Kauai for just that reason.

Lanai was formerly called "the Pineapple Isle." This is the island for people looking to "get away from it all", and have a budget that will allow a luxury priced hotel. The 2 hotels located on the island of Lanai are operated by Four Seasons. Pick your choice of locations from beach front at the Four Seasons Manele Bay, or a country manor at the Four Seasons Lodge at Koele. Cars are not necessary. Shuttles are provided at a nominal fee. The best option would be to combine your stay on Lanai with a brief stay on Oahu or Maui prior to your arrival on Lanai.

Molokai "the Friendly Isle" is the place for people who want the laid back feeling of Lanai, but their budget and tastes run more to the budget-moderate price range. Due to the limited flights it is best to combine a stay on Maui or Oahu prior to your arrival on Molokai.
